Brainerd Golf Course offers a spontaneous golfing opportunity, accommodating even last-minute players. The charm of this municipal course includes a par 3 along a bustling road, adding a touch of classic muni character. Despite the exceptionally dry conditions, the staff maintains a friendly atmosphere. The rented clubs may have seemed like relics from a '90s yard sale, but surprisingly, they held up well, allowing for straight shots and an enjoyable round without losing a single ball.
Although very wet the staff was so so friendly we were a group playing hickory golf clubs….Barbara was over the helping us to boot
What a fun public course. I played with a group of friends. Course was in average shape and the greens were fast and in good shape. Not a long course from the tips. 6450 yards....but risk and reward. I'd recommend to play. Pro shop small but equipped well and staff was very friendly. Paid 78 for 2 people 18 holes with a cart on the weekend. Great Value
Great greens, ok tee boxes, great Don Ross course for the price; Like most of the other reviewers, I noticed the 2 old men at the counter were quite rude, Have been 3 times and have heard some sort of rude comment every-time, Hopefully this course gets some new management because their nicest employee is the young man who sets up the tee times. I would not recommend playing this course unless you play early morning, Cause the management will bug you to move along even when you have no one behind you. Great public course, But the older employees treat it like a pga tour course, which i see has been a problem for others.
This was my first time visiting the Brainerd Golf course and really enjoyed my experience here. The staff were great and got me at the last minute too. I missed my time slot to team up with two other more experienced guys. The tardiness because of traffic was a blessing. I met some great guys and learned a few things.
I do have to say, if you're not a great at setting up shots, there are many houses to hit or cars by the roadway. This is not a negative but means a better place to learn and hoan in things to work on or learn.
Great experience. I would recommend this course to anyone.
Played here since age 3 im 32 years old. Its Oct.8 2023. Greens really good. True. I shot 1 under threw 18. Last time was 2. I made good putts. It was a Sunday not over booked. Had freedom to play. Couple holes needed trimmed of box. I enjoyed it. Bunkers well kept.
My new home course. Challenging 18 hole layout established in the early 1920s. Very well kept
The shame is that There isn't 1 piece of apparel or ball marker recognizing that this is a Donald Ross Golf course. A real shame shame the city doesn't see the value in that....most Donald courses are private or VERY VERY expensive to play. Its a fun layout. and yes a few holes are not his but thats ok......Great pace of play good solid greens and the price is amazing.....especially knowing that most Ross courses can cost well north of $100 some even $300.......need some MERCH boasting this place....
